Is your student interested in working on campus while here at East Carolina? This post highlights federal work-study and part-time student employment at the university.
Federal Work-Study-
What is federal work-study?
Federal work-study is a governmental program that provides funds for part-time employment to help students finance the costs of postsecondary education. Students can receive Federal Work Study funds at approximately 3,400 participating postsecondary institutions, including ECU!
How to know if my student is eligible?
Eligibility is determined by the annual completion of the FAFSA, enrollment status, and Satisfactory Academic Progress. ONLY students qualified by the Office of Student Financial Aid are eligible to participate in the program.
Fast Facts
- Studies have shown that students who work a student part-time job (17hrs) a week better manage their academic studies.
- If students are awarded work study, they need to plan to bring their social security card. Having the card speeds up the I-9 form process.
- If students are interested in work-study, they can email finaid@ecu.edu asking to be placed on the work-study waitlist.
Part-time Student Employment-
ECU has many different jobs available for students while here at the university. Job postings can be found on ECU's Handshake website. Handshake is a great resource for students to use to look for part-time jobs and network with potential employers. September 10, 2025, ECU will be hosting its Part-Time Job Fair. This job fair is open to all students and will host local area businesses and ECU departments that will offer part-time Federal Work-Study or other campus positions.
Is this an old post? The date for the job fair was 2024.
I just clicked the link and it still shows Sept 4, 2024.
