Hi Karen and Nancy,
The new to-go program using “ozzi” containers is a reusable, sustainable program. Students make a onetime purchase of $5.99. They can use their purple, gold or bounty bucks to purchase.
Students fill the box and leave the dining hall. Students then rinse and return the container in the ozzi machines located in the lobbies of our dining halls. When returning they swipe their 1card and receive a “digital token”. The next time they want a to-go meal, they tell the cashier who redeems the digital token from their card and hands them a new to go container. Students may take up to 3 meals “to-go” per week.
Also, the ECU Dining website is a good place to see what dining locations are open, as well as the calendar of events. Students can use their meal plan at any eatery on campus, like Chick fila, Steak ‘n Shake, Au Bon Pain, and more. Both West End and Todd Dining Halls also host events throughout the month to add some fun and variety to students’ dining experience. https://dining.ecu.edu/events/
To go boxes are permitted 3 times per week -- there was something posted to the 2026 Parents Facebook group maybe 2 or 3 weeks ago. Looks like a new program called Ozzy -- maybe through a vending machine -- it wasn't exactly clear. The university does a terrible job of communicating things so I'm not surprised your daughter --or the cafeteria staff-- aren't aware. Maybe your daughter can look into it.
